Day 3- Bad Zurzach to Mammern

'After a decent breakfast at the campsite we set off in light rain, initially through a contrasting landscape of quaint wee villages and huge derelict power stations, but the sun soon came out and we carried on along really nice cycle tracks and much quieter roads than yesterday.

We weren't so lucky today at avoiding  the thunderstorms, the photo below doesn't do it justice but this one clobbered us big time about five minutes after this picture.  The roads were awash and we took shelter under some trees for about twenty minutes.

Eventually we just carried on in the rain but by the time we reached the Rhine Falls, just downstream of Schauffhousen the weather had brightened up.  By this time we were starving so first priority was to find a big German Sausage for Sandra!

With all the rain that has been falling the falls themselves were absolutely spectacular.

After leaving the falls the rain soon came on again and it was a fairly soggy 15 Miles to Stein am Rhein where it started to clear up again.  Unfortunately just a few miles before we got to our campsite Sandra's back tyre exploded with a ripped side wall, we managed to patch it up with a toothpaste tube and duck tape, but we will need to try and find a new tyre tomorrow.

We have ended up in an excellent lake side campsite at Mammern.
  An eventful day!

Today's miles- 50
Total miles - 113
